At the Lushan Scenic Area entrance, environmental-protection rules and central management require a transfer to the scenic-area sightseeing bus (CNY90 per person, at your own expense). Sightseeing inside the area also requires these buses. As the buses are centrally managed and dispatched, there will be waiting time; thank you for your understanding. Reminder: The sightseeing-bus journey from the foot of Lushan to the mountain has many bends and steep slopes. Spring: In March, Huangling's rapeseed flowers turn the terraces into an ink-and-oil painting. Golden bands seem to dance, pear blossoms are white as snow, peach blossoms glow pink and rapeseed flowers fill the air with fragrance. White walls and dark-tiled roofs appear among the flowers and swirling mist, creating a beautiful rural fairy tale!

2nd month flower viewing: plum blossoms

3rd month flower viewing: rapeseed flowers, magnolia, pear blossoms, peach blossoms and cherry blossoms

4th month flower viewing: cherry blossoms and azaleas. Actual flowering times are affected by the local climate and environment; the peak bloom is subject to actual conditions.

Summer: In the sunshine over Wuyuan's Huangling village, negative ions become more active. The forested mountain area is cool and humid, making a visit into the mountains especially peaceful and refreshing. When white tung blossoms open, they surround the ancient village like brilliant clouds.

Autumn: Huangling's autumn farming customs create scenes of households drying their harvest, which are especially impressive in this season. Families spread their produce on bamboo trays on the roofs: bright red and yellow crops, mostly chillies, corn, chrysanthemums and red beans. The colourful drying trays and white-walled, dark-roofed Huizhou buildings resemble a watercolour painting!

Winter: When heavy snow falls on Huangling village in Wuyuan, the ancient village becomes a silver-white world. In the distance, snowy hills rise and fall in an unbroken line, with pale sculptural shapes across the mountains.
